Workshops

Rupinder has led workshops across Birmingham and nationally, working with a range of organisations and schools. She has experience teaching students aged 15 to 50.

She regularly delivers workshops including: Introduction to Panjabi PoetryIntroduction to South Asian Poetry, and Introduction to South Asian Writers (which can be tailored to focus on a specific writer or theme). Other sessions include Azaad Lafz (free verse poetry writing) and Finding Your Voice Through Spoken Word. Rupinder also leads workshops exploring female art and the female gaze in literature.

In schools, her workshops often focus on themes of heritage and identity, introduce poets not typically included in the curriculum, and encourage young people to discover and develop their own voices.

“Really inspirational and Rupinder is a brilliant facilitator – she has prepared some excellent resources and brought a real mix of media, subject matter and ideas to each session. It was all so welcoming and relaxing –  a really positive, safe, communal space in which everyone could really be themselves, share and develop”

“We just wanted to express how grateful we are for today’s lesson. Rupinder Kaur Waraich is an amazing role model for all interested in poetry – us included! Her poetry is beautiful and inspirational, each word having so much meaning and thought, encouraging us to reflect on our own identity and as young South-Asian teenagers, trying to find our own path in life. Thank you so much Rupinder!”
